Job Title: Sessional Playworker / Play Ranger 

Hours: 0-hour contract with variable hours, mainly after school, on weekends and during school holidays.  

Salary: £10 (new starts under 18) to £12 per hour depending on experience (with opportunities for Senior Play Rangers at enhanced rate) 

Location: Our office is based at The Fraser Centre, 3A Winton Place, Tranent, EH33 1AF. Play sessions are delivered in a variety of locations such as parks, green spaces and schools across East Lothian. 

Deadline: Midnight on Monday 3 June 2024 

Interviews: Monday 10th June 2024 

A training day is planned for ELPA Playworkers ahead of the summer holidays on Sunday 23rd June 2024 (date to be confirmed).

ELPA is growing our team of sessional Playworkers or ‘Play Rangers’ to facilitate fun, active, inclusive and creative outdoor play opportunities across East Lothian. 

ELPA’s goal is to promote and enrich a culture of play in East Lothian with children’s right to play is at the heart of all our projects. Our Play Ranger project creates play opportunities in green spaces and parks in children’s communities. We take a variety of resources such as den building materials, hammocks, loose parts, art and sensory materials to offer creative, child-led play sessions based on the Playwork approach.  

We are seeking playful, enthusiastic people who enjoy working with children and being part of a small, friendly team. The summer holidays are an especially busy time for us with opportunities to facilitate play across East Lothian in parks, green spaces, at events and with community projects. Term time, we offer regular Play Ranger sessions after school hours and at weekends.
