Job Title: Sessional Play Ranger
Hours: Varied hours available, mainly after school, weekends and holidays
Salary: £12 per hour
The ELPA Play Ranger Project facilitates and supports playful spaces in local communities where children and adults feel safe, comfortable and welcome to play. Play Rangers facilitate free, outdoor, local play sessions, engaging children and young people, bringing play to the heart of the community. ELPA currently has funding for Play Ranger Projects in Prestonpans, Tranent, Musselburgh and Haddington.
The Play Ranger role involves working directly with children and young people in their communities. Play Rangers will be resourceful and have the skills to support the development of the project as part of the team. Applicants must be confident in working with children and young people, in outdoor spaces and in all weathers. You should have excellent communication skills, a clear understanding of child development and the benefits of play, a creative and dynamic personality and excellent interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will be expected to work with colleagues to gather evidence of, and report on outcomes.
The Play Rangers projects will run until the end of March 2021. (Further funding is being sought).
